Peace

During the Christmas season we can so easily get caught up in the busyness,the commercialism, the pressures of having the perfect tree, decorations, lights (oh my goodness lights inside and outside the house), the latest must have Christmas presents, the perfect Christmas dinner recipes, table decorations. I could go on and on. We can end up feeling quite overwhelmed by it all. There are also people for who the Christmas season is not one of joy and celebration but a time of worry, a time of missing loved ones no longer there, a time of loneliness.

John 14:7 says “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Peace is the freedom from disturbance, a feeling of tranquillity it is also a state or period in which there is no war.

God's peace is secure at all times, even in the midst of troubling times. His peace does not change with our circumstances. God's peace in us through the Holy Spirit is a deep, confident assurance that no matter what this world throws at us, we don't fear the circumstance, outcome, or the future.

It's not just feeling good, or having a good day, or thinking positive thoughts. It's not the temporary good feelings we get from the world. God's peace comes from the realisation that He loves us, He is in control. HE never leaves our side, and He has settled our destiny. We can have peace.

So in this Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of the Messiah. Let's listen to the words of prophecy from Isaiah: “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

I pray that we personally know God's promised blessing of PEACE during this Christmas season. A deep and unshakable peace that is found only through a personal relationship with Him.

The Shepherds

I think it’s been over 400 years! That’s a long time to be silent..and no real explanation as to why..I’m not surprised though.. after all they got warning after warning..
that last guy Malachi told them..and you could tell, no one was listening…it’s like when you’ve got that friend you’ve been advising and telling her the same thing over and over again….but it’s like you’re talking to a brick wall……….you just give up in the end..That’s what I think happened.. silence…total silence for 400 years.

Could this be it?.. could this be the moment we’ve been waiting for?

It was really cold but the stars were beautiful..you just had to stare in wonder at that sight.. the sheep were quiet and the dogs had gone to sleep.. the fire was dying and we were just turning in for the night..

Suddenly, that’s the only word I can think of, suddenly, the sky was lit up like the sun! Can you imagine that? I tell you it sure drove the sleep from our eyes.. what was happening! And then…….and then an angel..yes you heard me..an angel appeared.. we were scared, I mean proper scared..so we all just stared with our mouths open when he began to speak..and then a whole host of other angels joined him and the whole place became like heaven itself.. It took little time to realise that we, (we your ordinary man in the street, or your ordinary shepherd in the field), WE had just experienced a HOLY moment..a God moment.. cos I’m sure you’ll agree when I say the word Holy the first thought that comes into your head is…………God.

You see holy moments..they’re all around us..God is calling us every day to new adventures and opportunities for Holy moments..and Holy moments give us the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be 100% open to God.

That night our lives changed..our world changed..we were never the same again..we told everyone.

So let me ask you?…….Are you waiting for a Holy moment? A God moment?
Maybe you’ve waited so long for something, someone..well you’ve heard my story.. don’t give up.. Holy moments still happen and they can happen to you..

On Saturday at 10am-12noon we will have a team of Purpose woman with a heart to pray waiting to pray for you. You may have found yourself in a season of needing encouragement for your heart, of sickness, of confusion or pain; or maybe you’re not sure the direction God wants you to take in your life. We would love to come around you and cover you in prayer. This will be a safe space, completely confidential and a time that is already being covered by prayer. We know God desires to meet you where you are so come, join us with an open heart 💜

If you have any questions please do reach out and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We are looking at: 1.our identity as His children: what it means for us to call God Abba! 2. As citizens of Heaven and exiles on Earth, what does that look like? 3. Persevering whilst in trials. 4. What Jesus says to us WHEN we are anxious!
